About us:

The Chair of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the LMU München is led by Prof. Dr. Annette Peters, who is also Director of the Institute of Epidemiology at Helmholtz Munich. We work with data from large population-based cohorts to investigate prevalence and risk factors of common diseases to improve personalized risk prediction, prevention and treatment. In this context, we are currently evaluating the performance of medical imaging data within the NAKO cohort.

We are looking for you:

Data Scientist / Epidemiologist in Cardiovascular Disease Research (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Analysis of large complex longitudinal data in proteomics in cardiovascular disease.
  • Integrated analysis of data from different OMICs levels, such as genetics, proteomics, metabolomics and transcriptomics and identification of interrelated biological pathways
  • Preparation of manuscripts and presentation of results in seminars and conferences.
  • Support in supervision of PhD and graduate students
  • Contribute to the DigiMed Bayern project and its infrastructure.

Your qualifications:

  • Degree in data science, genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or related field and preferably experience e.g. through a PhD
  • Enthusiasm for studying cardiometabolic diseases and their genetic and molecular causes
  • Experience working with cohorts
  • Passion for data analysis of large OMICS data, ideally in proteomics
  • Thorough knowledge of statistical methods and programming skills, including R software and associated packages
  • Ideally, experience in general scripting languages such as Perl or Python and working in Linux environments
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • High motivation and commitment to pursue research projects independently as well as in collaboration.
