Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track) of Clinical Genomics

The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a

Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track)

of Clinical Genomics

commencing as soon as possible.

The professorship will be located at the Department of Medicine III, University Hospital of LMU Munich.

The successful candidate is expected to be an internationally recognized scientist in the field of translational cancer genome research with an outstanding track record with respect to publications and third party funding. International scientific experience is desired. We are looking for a candidate with profound experience in heading an independent research group, who will complement, strengthen and expand our ongoing preclinical and clinical cancer genomics program.

Professorial duties also include teaching and patient care as an attending physician (Oberarzt) within the Medical Department III and management of a center for clinical genomics.

LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification and a board certification in clinical genetics. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.

The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.
