We are looking for you:

Postdoctoral position (m/f/x)

in Planegg-Martinsried

Your tasks and responsibilities:

In course of a newly established transregional research center, the subproject Z02 of the AG Klingl (Plant Development & central facility for Electron Microscopy) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher (TV-L E13, 100%). The title of the project is:

„Comparative ultrastructure of plant-microbe interfaces“

By using methods like FIB/SEM-tomography and SBF-SEM, we want to investigate interaction structure of wild type plants like Arabidopsis thaliana, tomato, barley or legumes with beneficial or parasitic microbes like arbuscular mycorrhiza, root nodule forming bacteria or powdery and downy mildew. Herein, the focus will be on structural consequences of genetic modifications on the host as well as on the intra- or extracellular microbe side. The resulting repository of 3D structural data should highlight commonalities and differences in these diverse plant-microbe associations and it should illustrate the involvement and structure-function relationships of the investigated genes/proteins.

Your qualifications:

The advertised position requires a doctoral degree in biology, biochemistry, human biology biotechnology or a related scientific field. Experience in microscopy and most importantly in electron microscopy with a focus on 3D imaging techniques like FIB/SEM-tomography, SBF-SEM or high-resolution transmission and scanning electron microscopy is highly desired. Beside state-of-the-art fixation methods, this project also requires experience in molecular techniques and the application of image data analysis and processing software.

Benefits:

The workplace is located in Martinsried and has a very good connection to public transportation services. We offer you a very interesting job with a high degree of responsibility and excellent possibilities for further education and development.

The application of female scientists is highly appreciated.

Also possible in a part-time capacity.

People with disabilities who are equally as qualified as other applicants will receive preferential treatment.
