The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) of Pharmaceutical Biology (Chair) commencing on October 1st, 2023.
The Chair for Pharmaceutical Biology is located at the Department of Pharmacy – Centre for Drug Research. With a molecular and cell biological orientation it has a highly integrative and bridging function within the interdisciplinary HighTechCampus Großhadern/Martinsried. The outstanding candidate is expected to represent the entire and broad field of Pharmaceutical Biology and to combine molecular and pharmacological characterization of novel drug substances and molecular target and cellular mechanisms with translational aspects of subsequent therapeutic development.
Design of innovative experimental models in drug discovery and drug development, smart cellular screening systems, novel drugs from nature, innovative Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and cell therapies are preferred topics. Preferred therapeutic directions include immunotherapy of infectious diseases, inflammation and autoimmune diseases, oncology, diseases of CNS and the cardiovascular system or geriatric diseases.
Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program. The candidate is expected to teach the entire and broad subject “Pharmaceutical Biology” (Staatsexamen Pharmazie and Bachelor/Master Pharmaceutical Sciences). A study degree in pharmacy is advantageous but not strictly required for a successful application.
