The Chair of Philosophy of Mind (Prof. Ophelia Deroy) at the Faculty of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science and Study of Religion, conducts research in the field of Philosophy of Perception, Action, or Social Cognition.

We are looking for you:

Lecturer (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Conduct independent research in the field of philosophy of perception, action, or social cognition, with a strong integration of empirical and theoretical approaches.
• Teach five hours per week (approx. 2 courses per semester, starting in April 2026) in areas relevant to the Chair (e.g. philosophy of perception, philosophy of mind, epistemology, philosophy of action, philosophy of neuroscience or cognitive science).
• Contribute to the academic and administrative duties of the Chair and related initiatives, in particular the Cognition, Values and Behavior (CVBE) research group.

Your qualifications:

The successful candidate:

• holds a completed PhD in philosophy, ideally with an empirical or interdisciplinary orientation.
• has teaching experience in philosophy of perception, action, or related areas (e.g. philosophy of mind, philosophy of neuroscience, epistemology).
• demonstrates a strong research profile in the field of philosophy of perception, action, or social cognition, addressing topics such as perceptual content, multisensory integration, collective agency, social perception, or philosophical foundations of collective intelligence.

Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, especially with cognitive science, psychology, or neuroscience, is highly desirable.

The position is part of the interdisciplinary Cognition, Values and Behavior (CVBE) research group, which brings together philosophers, psychologists, and neuroscientists to investigate perception, action, cognition, and social interaction.

There are also opportunities to collaborate with other LMU initiatives such as the Munich Interactive Intelligence Initiative (MI3) and the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences (GSN).

Employment will be based on the TV-L E13 pay scale. The position is initially limited until January 31, 2029.
