About us:

At the SODA lab, we care about the thoughtful use of data, from its collection and analysis to decision-making based on the available evidence. Our goal is to critically reflect on, interrogate and improve the use of data in social science research and beyond. SODA is part of the Munich Center of Machine Learning that unites leading researchers in Germany, to strengthen competence in the field of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
We work together as a team of researchers from many different fields, and collaborate closely with colleagues from other institutions, with practitioners and policy-makers. Between us, we combine a multitude of backgrounds, varied experiences and different knowledge. We bring these to bear on a wide range of exciting projects, many of which have direct relevance to social issues.

We are looking for you:

Student Research Assistant focusing on data collection and analysis (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Utilize Qualtrics to program, test, and manage surveys that drive key insights into our research areas, in particular the Transatlantic Privacy Perceptions (TAPP) Project
• Conduct data cleaning, analysis, and visualization using advanced R techniques, turning raw data into actionable insights that fuel research.
• Ensure our data and code repository remains organized, up-to-date, and accessible to team members, promoting seamless collaboration.

Your qualifications:

• A background in Statistics, Data Science, or Empirical Social Science
• Proficiency and experience in R programming, with the ability to handle complex data structures and apply statistical methods.
• A knack for data interpretation and a solid understanding of analytical methods to support high-quality, meaningful research outcomes.
• Excellent written and spoken English for effective communication within our diverse, international team.
