The Cognition, Values, Behaviour Research Group (Professor Ophelia Deroy) hosts the EMERGE project, funded by the EIC-Pathfinder (European Innovation Council). The general goal of the project is to characterise and implement the emergence of a form of collaborative awareness across simple artificial agents. The project team includes computer scientists (lead PI: Davide Bacciu, Pisa), cognitive robotics (lead PI: Cosimo dell’a Santina, Delft), swarm intelligence experts (lead PI: Sabine Hauert, Bristol). The current position will be supervised by Prof. Ophelia Deroy (philosophy of mind), Dr. Bahador Bahrami (collective intelligence) and Dr. Jurgis Karpus (human-AI interactions).
The current position will be involved in developing concepts and tools to measure the emergence of collaborative awareness, as distinct from both global and distributed awareness, and using dimensional models of awareness developed in cognitive science in collaboration with a post-doctoral fellow.
