We are a research group within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at LMU Munich, focusing on the molecular and cellular biology of Apicomplexan parasites. Our research focuses on the apical complex — a specialized structure that orchestrates parasite movement — and the regulatory proteins that control the transition from a resting to a motile state. We combine molecular genetics, live‑cell imaging, and protein biochemistry to uncover how post‑translational modifications, particularly lysine methylation, drive the recruitment and activation of key cytoskeletal components.
