The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) of Internal Medicine / Endocrinology and Diabetology (Chair)
commencing on 1 October 2025.
The professorship will be appointed to the chairmanship of the Department of Medicine IV at the University Hospital of LMU Munich and represents the subject in its entirety in research, teaching and patient care. The LMU University Hospital is one of the largest and most renowned of its kind in Germany and holds top positions nationally and internationally in patient care and research. The focus of the professorship should be on translational metabolic-diabetological research, which will be further expanded. Independent, cutting-edge research and participation in the numerous research initiatives of the faculty and the German health centers are expected. Close cooperation with the Helmholtz Zentrum München is desired.
Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, a board certification as a specialist in internal medicine with a focus on endocrinology and diabetology, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.
The clinical duties and responsibilities of this professorship, including the billing of private patients, shall be reimbursed under the terms of a “Chefarztvertrag” (chairmanship contract) with a private-law contract for the professorship. This regulation can, however, potentially be disregarded if a professor has already been a chair of a department in a fully tenured professorship (C4-/W3-status) with the authorization to bill private patients.
