The Chair’s thematic focus ranges over political, legal, and social philosophy. Regular activities, in addition to teaching and publications, include research collaborations with leading universities in Germany and abroad, seminar series with international invited speakers, specialist workshops and conferences, career-development and mentoring initiatives for junior academics and PhD students.

We are looking for you:

Postdoctoral Fellow (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Independent and collaborative research broadly in the thematic areas of the Chair—political, legal, and social philosophy—and dissemination of such research through participation in seminars, conferences, and workshops.
  • Teaching: 5 hours per week. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching offerings of the Chair.
  • Participation in other activities at the Chair, including conference and workshop organization, teaching administration, research seminars, reading groups, etc.

Your qualifications:

  • Candidates should have completed, or be about to complete, a doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., political philosophy/theory, legal philosophy, social philosophy). A finished PhD is required by the start date of the appointment.
  • Candidates should have a record of producing high-quality research, as evidenced by publications and/or publishable writings of international standard, commensurate with their career stage.
  • Candidates should have excellent teaching skills and be willing to engage in teamwork.
  • Candidates should be able to work in English, with respect to both research and teaching.
  • Knowledge of German and the ability to teach in German are very much welcome, but not a prerequisite for this post.
