About us:
The position will be affiliated to the Chair of Comparative Political Science based in the Faculty of Social Sciences. We are an international team dedicated to the comparative study of advanced democracies and the challenges they face. We engage in theoretically informed, systematic empirical analysis and our research combines a variety of methods including state-of-the art quantitative, experimental and qualitative methods.

Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/x)
in Munich
Your tasks and responsibilities:
The position is to be filled as an Assistant Professorship (100%, TV-L E13 or 100%, A13: "Beamter/Beamtin auf Zeit")
To conduct academic research aligned with research conducted at the chair.
- Publication of research results (individually and in teams)
- Contribution to administrative tasks at the chair and projects located at the chair.
- Provision of teaching in the area of comparative politics broadly defined (five ‚Semesterwochenstunden‘ (45 minutes each), per semester on average).
Your qualifications:
- An excellent dissertation in a discipline relevant for comparative social science research (completed or close to completion).
- A research agenda related to research interests of the chair. Particularly desirable are research profiles concerned with organizational perspectives on associations, NGOs, parties, non-profits, interest groups or social movements or, alternatively, with the cross-national study of the resilience, erosion and backsliding of liberal democracy.
- Publication in peer-reviewed journals or strong indications of the potential to place publications competitively.
- Excellent knowledge of cross-national data collection, management and analysis (qualitative or quantitative). Advanced knowledge of cross-national legal analysis and mixed methods designs are desirable.
- Fluency in English. Good German skills are desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
Benefits:
- Pay is based on TV-L ,Entgeltgruppe’ E 13. Work load is 40,1 hours per week. As “Beamter/Beamtin auf Zeit” your work load is 40 hours per week.
- The post ought to be filled by 1 April 2026 and is restricted to a duration of two years (probation 6 months). The position can be extended for two more years.
- Your workplace will be centrally located in Munich and can be easily reached by public transport.
