We are looking for you:

Lecturer in Hungarian (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

You will teach the whole range of Hungarian language courses from elementary to advanced, as well as courses in Hungarian history, culture, and literature; additional courses that fit your academic profile are also very welcome. The weekly teaching load is currently 17 hours.

Other duties include arranging and grading the respective exams, participating in the development of teaching materials, holding office hours, attending meetings, planning and overseeing extracurricular activities, organizing special events (such as open days, film nights, excursions, etc.), coordinating the Erasmus programs targeting Hungary, promoting the Hungarian courses at LMU, and actively participating in the life of the Institute of Finno-Ugric/Uralic Studies. You will also be expected to work in close coordination with colleagues at the institute as well as other relevant departments within LMU.

Your qualifications:

You should have an excellent command of Hungarian (C2), a working proficiency in German (B2 or higher), and at least a limited working proficiency in English (B1). An M.A. degree or equivalent in Hungarian or a related linguistic or philological discipline is required. A doctoral degree will be considered an asset (please note that this position does not offer a possibility to obtain a doctoral degree in the course of work).

You should have a minimum of two ‒three years of experience in teaching Hungarian as a foreign language at different levels including advanced. Additionally, we welcome expertise and teaching experience in other related fields, such as Hungarian literature and culture, Finno-Ugric studies, literary translation, or possibly some others.
