About us:

The Chair of Environmental Humanities is looking for a student assistant with a start date of October 1st, 2024. The Chair is responsible for the MA Environment and Society, and an interdisciplinary doctoral program (Proenviron). The Chair is housed in the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (RCC), an international research center at LMU that is dedicated to the study of environment and society in different disciplines.

We are looking for you:

Student Assistant for the Chair of Environmental Humanities (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • assisting with program events and workshops
  • maintaining and updating the website
  • assisting with the workflow of different processes
  • supporting work related to promoting the programs of study and events
  • research assistance

 Additional opportunities depend on the candidate’s qualifications and interests. 

Your qualifications:

  • currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program at a university in Germany
  • very good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • ability and willingness to work independently
  • ability and willingness to learn new computer programs
  • excellent organizational and time management skills
  • versatility in using library catalogues, conducting literature searches, drawing up bibliographies
  • high level of fluency in both English and German
  • interest in graphic design / graphic design skills are desired but not required
  • basic knowledge in statistics is desired but not required.


Candidates for this position must be able to commit to this job for at least two semesters from the contract’s start date. A qualification or interest in environmental issues is desirable but not required. We welcome applications from international students or students who have lived, worked, or studied outside of Germany for a while. Applicants should enjoy working with students and co-workers from different cultural and disciplinary backgrounds, be able to work on various tasks on an ongoing basis, be able to anticipate regularly occurring tasks, and manage their time well. The appointment will be made initially for a six-month review period after which time the contract may be extended. The salary will be determined according to the LMU compensation scale for “studentische Hilfskräfte.”
