The Chair of Metaphysics (Prof. Dr. Alyssa Ney) investigates metaphysical topics from an analytical perspective, aiming for an approach that is scientifically based, historically informed, and socially engaged.

Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

The candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program in metaphysics and philosophy of physics, including issues related to the metaphysics of quantum open systems. They will also be expected to participate in the weekly group activities of the Chair of Metaphysics. The position will include some administrative tasks, such as the organization of workshops.

Your qualifications:

Candidates are required to have a doctorate in philosophy, with an AOS in Philosophy of Physics and Metaphysics. Additional background training in physics is welcome. This is a research-only position, and all work will be conducted in English.

The Chair of Metaphysics in the Faculty of Philosophy at LMU Munich invites applications for one postdoc position in a multi-university John Templeton Foundation supported project on the physics and philosophy of open quantum systems. This is a fixed term (non-tenure track) postdoctoral position that runs for two years. The starting date is January 15, 2027. Remuneration is based on the TV-L E13 pay scale (100%).
