About us:

The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich invites applications for a Laboratory Manager , who will be in charge of a (Bio)Chemistry laboratory at the Department of Chemistry.

The Schütz group is a recently established interdisciplinary research group, specializing in the fields of structural chemistry and biology using NMR spectroscopy.

We are looking for you:

Laboratory Manager (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of our biosafety level 1 labs, including preparing standard operating procedures for new machines
  • Operate and scientifically manage the daily lab functions, including coordinating lab tasks, establishing common protocols and assistance with troubleshooting
  • Advise and train students in molecular biology and protein chemistry
  • Participate in a number of research projects involving the production, purification and biophysical analysis of proteins and nucleic acids
  • Teach undergraduate-level practical courses with a moderate teaching load.

Your qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Master or PhD (or equivalent) in chemical biology, biochemistry or a related discipline
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Good written and spoken knowledge of English and/or German

Desirable qualifications:

  • Protein and RNA biology, molecular biology and chromatography techniques are desirable qualities for a successful applicant, but most important is a willingness to learn.

Benefits:

The successful candidate will be employed full time (100%) initially for one year and paid according to TV-L E13 pay scale, with the possibility of an extension.

Also possible in a part-time capacity.
