About us:

The International Doctorate Program (IDK) Philology: Practices of pre-modern cultures, global perspectives and future concepts is located at the LMU Munich. The program compares European concepts and practices of philological work with traditions in Africa, the Middle East, and eastern and southern Asia, with a special focus on the Indian subcontinent and the Jewish and Arabic world in pre-modernity. We seek to compare their similarities and differences and to work out continuities and discontinuities across these contexts. Doctoral students gain access to a research environment that stimulates inventive approaches and encourages excellent results.

The IDK comprises the following disciplines: Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Catholic Theology, Classics (Greek and Latin Studies), Computational Linguistics, Egyptology (JMU Würzburg), English Studies, German Literature (1400-1700), German Medieval Studies, History of Science & Scholarship, Indology, Jewish Studies, Legal History, Musicology, Protestant Theology, Romance Studies and Sinology.

Coordinator for International Doctorate Program Philology (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• coordination of the International Doctoral Program in Philology
• financial planning and resource management of the IDK
• preparation of contracts for doctoral students and student assistants
• support in planning, organization and implementation of research events of the IDK
• support of the doctoral students of the program
• contact person between doctoral students and professors
• reporting for the funding body
• design and maintenance of the homepage

Your qualifications:

• successful degree (Master’s, Diploma, teaching degree), PhD welcome
• an autonomous, well-structured and self-reliant way of working
• experience in the management and administration of scientific projects
• fluency in German and English
• the readiness to engage in interdisciplinary work

We offer a coordination position (50%, TV-L E13) until 30.09.2027, with the possibility of further extension for two years.
