About us:

The Department of Virology (chair: Prof. Oliver T. Keppler) of the Max von Pettenkofer Institute at LMU Munich offers a PhD Position in tumor chemosensitization starting in early 2023 in the laboratory of Prof. Oliver T. Keppler.
We have reported the role of the triphosphohydrolase SAMHD1 as a determinant of chemoresistance in acute myeloid leukemia (Nat. Med. 23(2):250-255 (2017); Nat. Commun. 10(1):3475 (2019); Commun. Biol. 3(1):324 (2020)). We have recently identified small molecule inhibitors of SAMHD1 that chemosensitize leukemic blasts and highly malignant solid tumors to specific nucleoside analogs. We employ state-of-the art molecular, biochemical and immunological approaches to explore the activity of these inhibitors in cell lines, primary cells, organotypic tumor cultures and small animal models.
