The Department of Chemistry is an internationally recognized research institution with an interdisciplinary research environment in the fields of synthetic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, chemical biology, catalysis and supramolecular chemistry. The Chair of Organic and Biological Chemistry works at the interface between chemistry and biochemistry and is one of 14 chairs in the faculty. We are looking for you:
Research associate (Ratsstelle) (m/f/x)
in Munich
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Operating and scientific supervision of our current and future HPLC and LC-MS instruments and experiments
- Performing and evaluating quantitative analyses of modified nucleosides and nucleotides from cell samples (“metabolomics”)
- Working as a safety officer for the isotope laboratory at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the LMU
- Supervision of BA and MA students in synthesis, purification and analysis of modified nucleotides, cofactors and non-natural amino acids
- Organization, preparation and implementation of seminars and practical courses in organic chemistry in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs
- Participation in the scientific research teaching tasks (graduate and undergraduate level) at the Chair of Organic and Biological Chemistry
- Contribution to tasks of academic self-administration
- Training of doctoral students on the HPLC and LC-MS instruments
- Support in writing scientific publications and collaborative research proposals
- Participate in national and international multidisciplinary research collaborations
- Advise students, peers and visiting scientists
- Presentation of results in project meetings, international conferences and in scientific journals.
Your qualifications:
- PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry
- Experience in synthetic organic chemistry and operation of HPLC and LC-MS
- Willingness to become the safety officer for the isotope lab (including participation at the required courses)
- English (level B2 or higher)
- Ability for and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to learn German and teach in German
Desirable skills
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Nucleotide chemistry
- Quantitative LC-MS analysis of nucleosides
- Radioactive labeling of nucleic acids [32P]
- German
