The core tasks of the Department Families and Family Policies include research into life situations and lifestyles of families, their well-being and requirements as well as research into family support services, infrastructures and assistance. Based on scientific results, it also provides support and consultation for practice, policy-making and the public at large. The head of the department is responsible for the scientific and strategic planning of the department which currently comprises about 70 colleagues.
At the Department of Sociology at LMU Munich the candidate should represent the field of sociology with a special emphasis on labor market and family research in research and teaching. The teaching load is two hours per week.
Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program. In particular, we expect
The future holder of this position will be appointed to LMU Munich as a university professor (pay grade W3) under the terms of a private-law contract and will be granted leave of absence in order to be employed by the DJI as Head of the Department Families and Family Policies.
