About us:

The Institute for Financial Innovation & Technology at LMU Munich School of Management conducts rigorous, relevant and exciting academic research and teaching in the domain of financial innovation and technology. We cover topics in high frequency capital markets and technology, cryptocurrencies, financial data science and the application of machine learning techniques in a financial context.

We are looking for you:

Postdoctoral Position (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will take on a leading role quickly. As the first Post-Doctoral Researcher of the newly found institute, you will be tasked with guiding the research agenda of the institute and extending the institute’s research infrastructure. You will be able to work independently and manage the research staff of the institute while writing papers publishable in top finance journals. With your teaching and research, you work towards the completion of a habilitation (German post-doctoral degree). The mandatory teaching obligation comprises 5 semester hours per week.

Your qualifications:

You hold an excellent academic record and a completed PhD in Finance, Management, Business Administration, Economics, Informatics, Math, Computer Science, or a related field. You are an expert in empirical methods and understand how to interpret the results of statistical analyses. You are intellectually curious, possess strong analytical capabilities, and are a competent programmer in Python and/or R. You complement our team with strong organizational skills, are proactive and goal-oriented, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and possess excellent English skills (written and oral).

The position is initially offered for three years with a possibility of extension for additional three years after a successful interim evaluation. If all civil service requirements are met, a temporary civil servant position can be appointed. Civil servants are remunerated according to salary group A13 (100%) of the Bayerisches Besoldungsgesetz.  If the requirements under civil service law are not met, the employee will be placed in pay group TV-L E13 (100%).

Also possible in a part-time capacity.
