About us:

The research group of Prof. Markus Meissner invites applications for doctoral student positions to work on fundamental biological aspects of apicomplexan parasites and their host cells. A major focus will be the analysis of gene regulation and host cell egress of Plasmodium falciparum, the causative agent of malaria.

The Meissner lab is based in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Numerous core facilities ensure state of the art equipment and expertise.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Scientific work within the framework of the dissertation
• Leading a research project
• Monitoring and documenting research results

Your qualifications:

• Applicants are required to hold or to obtain a first-class or upper second class master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, veterinary medicine or a related relevant biological subject.
• They should have excellent theoretical knowledge of molecular biology and good laboratory skills. Pre-experience or a strong interest in molecular biology and/or imaging is very favourable.
• We are currently able to offer imaging based and reverse genetic based projects.
